The previous oil filter was a B-E-A-R to remove (Fram Extended Guard) after 15,000 miles and about 10 months later. I'm pretty strong and it still would not budge until I had to buy an oil filter wrench w/ the teeth clamps. Even w/ the wrench crushing the can and grinding off the rubberized grip on Fram XG, it still took me several attempts and a few expletives to get it to turn.

The gasket must have swelled BIGtime even after oiling it up and only hand-tightening + half a turn.

Let's see what a year or 15,000 miles will do to this Bosch Distance Plus with teflon impregnated gasket (and I oiled it as I always do w/ fresh oil).
