I am about to buy a used 06 BMW 528i. I was wondering what oil to use on the Long Life set-up that BMW has. I can not get a good clear answer if I should 0w-30 Castrol or 0W-40 Mobil. This is the E60 type car non-turbo. The car has very low miles on it.

Anyone have one of these cars? Or have a good recommendation.

Thanks,

40ford

Hi,
40ford - Both 0w-30 and 0w-40 synthetic lubricants are recommended by Castrol

Mobil 1 0w-40 is their recommended product for this vehicle - it has the required "Approvals"

IMO it is better to stay with lubricants that are officially ACEA "Licenced" and BMW Approved

BarkerMan,
Yes this BMW gets free maintenance. But I am not going 15,000 miles between oil changes. More like 7,500 miles.
