No I don't have Facebook...

I find Facebook useful, but you have to use it on your own terms, not someone else's.

Never "Like" anything.

Never play any games.

Provide the minimum of information. For example, Facebook does not need to know my cellular phone number.

I log into Facebook about once a month to check up on relatives, co-workers and ex-co-workers, and a few friends who live too far away to stay in contact with any other way (an aircraft mechanic who currently is in Africa with his family, and I know all his family; an ex-girlfriend I am on very good terms with (and including her husband) who lives in Bermuda; a cousin who lives in Jamaica; many friends across the US and Canada).

I have a small but significant number of eMail addresses and usernames and web domains.

I always create accounts with every new Social Media phenomena as it becomes popular using these names, so that they are mine and cannot be used by someone else. For example I have six usernames on Twitter, but have never actually tweeted anything and haven't followed anyone.

I don't actually use the accounts.

Hey guys, my face book account is not working, but I had a good day yesterday, bought a new battery for the wifes car, did I tell you I got a haircut, and we had a plastic garbage bag break, and the cat seems sick and .....

I've had a Facebook account since before Facebook went public.

For those that don't know, it used to be restricted to valid University email addresses. But then those university addresses graduated so they opened it up to the public.

There are days where I'm ready to hit the delete button. Mainly from the political junk for both sides.

I use Facebook to maintain some contact. A ski group I belong to uses it to chat about items. I don't have app installed on phone.

I like Twitter also for following topics of interest. Not people but groups and topics.

The same girl(close friend then l) I remember in high school getting sent home to change due to outfits is posting bathing suit and fitness pics now living in Maui and has similar friends. That is not terrible to look at either but cannot read the drama.

+1

Too many people blurting out their opinions and arguing, especially around election time... But it is fun to keep up with folks who would be tough to find otherwise. The ad hoc network that can form is quite nice for catching up with lost friends.

But the meme is correct...

I have a few distant (physical) relatives and a lot of the jeep events are organized on there.

No interest in Facebook, Twitter, or any of that type of stuff. Just don't see the point. But then again, there are probably plenty of folks out there that don't see the point in BITOG.

Basically BITOG is an antique version of Facebook in many ways with plenty of drama and trainwrecks coming in. It can be whatever you want as there is great wealth of info too.

Ignorant.

I have spent 15 years following a career to multiple locations across the country. I also went away to different schools for undergraduate and graduate school. I've met many amazing people at each place I lived/worked. Facebook provides one stop, organized shopping for all of my friends in these different locations.

I also have an 8 month old. So when my wife and I have questions, I'll ping people on Facebook. Much better than going on a forum...you're getting advice from people you already trust instead of some no-name potential nut job.

As with everything in life, broad brushing is never a good idea.

I don't do FB and have grandkids in Florida. My son just sends pics to my e-mail.

I have a Photobucket acct to post pictures HERE - that's about it. A good place to share photos with Forums and Family and friends without excess drama

I have it, use it infrequently, and like the ability to "pull" info/ pics of what my friends (and legit ones, not phonies) are up to with their kids growing up etc. I don't ask them to email, I don't ring their phone, I do it on my time and my terms.

Used to have facebook, no more. Its a part of a move toward an image based society, away from a print based one.

I like what Chris Hedges says "turn off your electronic illusions"

I dont miss FB.

Disagree
This forum isn't loaded with porn and stupid woman selfies and drama queens.
It's a bunch of losers trying to be somebody....

Are you the only one who wants to see them? Sorry, not using FB for your photos is a choice for you, using it for a geographically diverse and large (mother's family has over 50 relatives) family is a good choice for a time challenged family. Its just an option for people to use or not.
