There was some discussion last fall pertaining to this filter and someone had posted pics showing cardboard endcaps and what appeared to be a general cheapening of construction.
Upon the suggestion of the parts guy at my dealer, I cut open mine after changing. It had metal endcaps and appeared to be overall very solid. Not sure what may have happened to the one we saw pics of, but I feel better now.
