Actually, Purolator is marking to anyone who doesn't hang out here or cut open filters for themselves. 99.9% of the population doesn't even know what the inside of an oil filter looks like, let alone what kind of differences in oil filter design can make to the product. I think Purolator is basically just saying they feel they have a better product ... isn't that the sole goal of advertising.

Some people are getting way to serious and wrapped up in the term "cardboard". Purolator is using it in a generic sense, and I'm sure Purolator's lawyers gave them the OK to use that terminology without the thread of getting sued from FRAM ... even though Purolator never specifically says the other filter is a FRAM.
