The sticker on a brand new Isuzu diesel pickup in dealer's yard says "Isuzu Long Life Coolant". Pop open the cap and it's the green stuff.

Does anyone know for sure what sort of coolant does Isuzu use? OAT, HOAT or just the traditional green.

"Green" says absolutely nothing about an antifreeze's formulation. So is Nissan's, though Nissan's is a different brew from traditional heavily silicated Prestone. If Isuzu claims it's a long life product, then it's likely a HOAT formula with a stiff dose of phosphate as the co-corrosion inhibitor. If you buy one of these vehicles, and if the engine uses wet cylinder liners (exposed to the coolant), you'd be best off changing out to G-05 after two years. G-05's alternate HOAT formula (OAT/reduced silicate content) handles cavitation effects that occur with wet-sleeved engines extremely well.

(That's essentially what Honda's, Nissan's, and Toyota's products are, dye color variations notwithstanding.)
