I know the Altimas had tons of issues but haven't heard about many issues with the smaller cars like the Sentra and Versa.

Constant changing of gear ratios, I should say! Although, it does have gears!
The Versas are low power so they can last a bit longer. The ones that are really popular are the ones that can't make it through the first owner/leasee without the CVT failing.

This place really goes overboard on the CVT disdain and wildly exaggerates the failure rate.
Been fixing oil leaks on my car again, and so been idly looking at Mirages again. Came across this pic, had to share it. [IIRC the story is that the guy autocrosses his car, and he missed a shift, taking out the motor. Not a fault of the car.]
