Yes, their D4 has a higher VI, but it is still a heavier fluid overall.



Because as I understand the story, Dex VI was really instituted as a low-visosity fluid that does not have the shear effects that Dex III had, so it starts less viscous and stays that way, giving good protection the whole time.

If D4 starts viscous and holds it under AT duty, then it solved the fundamental weakness with Dex III.

But for the OP, it is irrelevant as he has a new car that has a warranty on it, and so Id buy a licensed Dex VI off the list and use it until the warranty is up at least. They are all good.
