I am not a chemist by trade but have had lots of college chemistry and have a lot more to come! I have to take 300 level chemistry and organic chemistry. So I understand more then most. On top of that I was trained in tribology by GM and learned a lot more on this site and Noria. I have used the product back when it had a 500 mile clean and 1000 mile rinse phase so I am not green behind the ears with regard to Auto-RX and have used it more then once.It is great product but not the best at all things. It is not needed for mild cleaning or for maintenance use that is a huge waste of money! Lube Control is a far better product for general use and light sludge and medium to heavy carbon deposits and it works better on varnish something that Auto-Rx has been hit or miss on.
If someone ran an oil with a high enough ester content say anything over 30% one should never need to use a product like Auto-RX to begin with. One guy on here has something like 300,000 miles on Redline which is a high ester content oil in his Honda and had no seal issues. So again it comes down to materials used and glaring broad brush strokes do not do the subject any justice.
