Howdy folks, here is the report on my '98 Ram 2500 Cummins 24 valve turbo diesel from Blackstone labs. This is the second fill of Amsoil AME 15W-40 full synthetic, having been installed 4/1/03. Sample was drawn on 7/7/03 with 6,275 miles on the oil. Amsoil SDF80 full-flow filter and Amsoil 2 stage oiled air filter in the stock air box was used. I changed the oil filter, now to an M1, and added about 1 1/2 quarts make-up and I'm still running this fill in the crankcase.
I have an 8'2" Boss V-type snow plow for this truck and received heavy wet snow in early april and plowed with it twice. Also went on a fishing trip to Ontario towing a trailer in May and drove many miles on dusty gravelled roads. Truck also sees considerable short trip driving. 87,255 miles on truck at time of sample.
First # is test data, 2nd is universal average
Aluminum 3/4

Manganese 0/1
Silver 0/0
Titanium 0/0
Potassium 1/1
Boron 0/79
Silicon 3/9
Sodium 3/3
Calcium 3796/2529
Magnesium 14/466
Phosphorus 1087/1088
Zinc 1234/1280
Barium 1/0
Properties:
Sus Visc @210F 74.4
Flashpoint 475F
Fuel Antifreeze 0
Water 0
Insolubles 0.5
TBN 7.7
What do you think? Blackstone said to try 8500 miles for the next sample. Is that 8500 on this fill, or 8500 from this test sample, which would be close to 15,000 miles on the oil?
Thanks!
