What I find more amazing is that anyone could put 440K on a 4 year old car. That and they think the car is still worth $6000.

I don't care what anyone says, 440k highway or city is a lot of miles and it doesn't matter if the car is 4 years or 14 years old, 6k is still hefty for a car of that mileage. Wonder what the service history is like though.

Sure it has the remaining factory warranty -- Just call the factory and they will tell you where to go

That's hilarious! I wouldn't give him $600 for that car. It's gotta be shot with that many miles!

That's my favorite generation Sonata (yes, like it better than the current generation). Does that 2.4L engine require timing belt changes? Wonder if those have been done as required. Looks like it's in good shape for the miles, but agree that they'll ever sell it for 6 large.

N/M: looks like it has the Theta engine, which uses a timing chain system.

They probably don't want to sell it. It probably generates web traffic.

I suggested that oilBabe and I go up to Springfield and look at it. I don't think she is up for that on date night.

Plugging some numbers into their NADA valuation tool I found the following.

56K miles is a zero adjustment for mileage.
If I add 10K miles, making it 66K, it's a $300 deduct.

It seems the maximum deduct using their tool is $1950. It simply stops reducing the price of the car once you've reached that value.

It's also pretty coarse. Trying to find the $1000 is impossible. The deduct is $975 at 95000 miles and $1100 at 95001.

It seems 145001 miles is where you hit the maximum deduct for miles.

So the other nearly 300K miles don't count against your value, LOL.

Would a bank even loan much if anything on a car with that many miles? I think with NADA appraisal and unusual miles it becomes a judgement call on the car's value.
