Hi everyone, here's the first UOA for my 2018 Miata.
Castrol Edge 0w20 for 5900 miles.
I was mainly concerned with the 0w20 sheering down and getting too thin towards the end of the Mazda spec'd 7500 mile OCI. After seeing the UOA, I think the 0w20 can run 7500 miles without issue for my driving habits.
Mazda recommends 0w20 for US and Canada, 5w30 for the rest of the world, including Japan, which has similar temps to my area.
I'm running 5w30 Castrol Edge during the interval partly because I changed it before I got the 0w20 results back. I'll run the 5w30 for ~6000 miles and will compare when it's time to change. I will likely just end up running the 0w20 though after this because it seemed to hold up fine.
Not seeing any MPG difference between the 2 weights. The engine does seem to run smoother? Or maybe a little quieter, however this is anecdotal and I have no proof of any change.
Filter is a Wix 57002 / Napa Gold 7002 which is a filter made with no anti-drain back valve specifically for the Skyactive engines.

Is this Castrol gold or black Edge? At any rate it did well and seems to have plenty of TBN left to do 7500 mile OCIs. I'd stick with the 0w20 in NJ as the Mazda Skyactiv engines aren't hard on oil and will run nearly forever on it.
