Stop that “thicker is better” you don’t need 5w30 and I wouldn’t be worried about what comes out in the 1 st couple of oil changes.

It is better. There is always less wear from an oil with a higher HT/HS than one that is lower. Physics matters.

Engine is in title. 2.4L turbo that debuted in the Ascent, then was put in the Outback, and is now in the WRX. OBW probably stands for Outback Wilderness.

OP, how exactly did you take the sample, in detail.

1. Engine warm and running.
2. Remove the seal from the oil sample container, but don’t open it.
3. Turn the engine off.
4. Go right under the car and remove the oil drain plug.
5. Open the sample container and 3/4 fill it from the oil drain stream.
6. Seal and label the container.
7. Mail the used oil sample to the lab.
