I would try M1 TDT. I think it would hold up better than the Amsoil AFL. Not VW approved though.

I think any HD 5W-40 would hold up better than most low SAPS 5W-40 oils.

Go for ELF Excellium 5W40, VW approved, perfect for your engine.

Agree. AFL is more like M1 0w-40.
