Put some jack stands under the car as well to back up the ramps. Cheap insurance.

I really appreciate all of the positive feedback but when I was looking at the car I wanted to offer $1800. Maybe it was just the horse trader lurking inside of me or maybe it was the fact that I just don't care for this type of car.
My wife was the one who said "she's 90 years old, the car is really nice and you should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking about giving her a lower offer".

that is when you reply, "yep, she has no mortgage, no car payment, no medical bills(most likely), a guarantee'd income, and no use for the car anymore either."

I'd still haggle.
BTW, a little junkyard searching can locate the SSEi springs, wheels, and sway bars. They won't make the car into a Lotus Elise. They will tighten up the handling very nicely, though.
