Motorcraft has a 5w-50 syn for GT500 5.4's. I would figure a supercharged motor would have tighter clearances too.

Got rid of 99% of my lifter noise in an old 67 galaxie.. Have it now for a few seconds at startup, then zip after auto-rx.

Standard factory fill is Motorcraft 5W-50 in new Shelby GT500s.

Hess card right now is 10% back on gas for 90 days and then 5% after that. I cannot find if there is a $$ limit for the payback.

The new GT500 friend has is using 5W-50 however it's a 5.4L 4 valve with 6250 rpm limit. Most 5.4Ls are 5200 rpm limit due to weak rods and long stroke. Wonder if they opened up any clearances any due to oil weight ?

I am not sure if it was the air filter or MC --> Havoline ... Might go back to MC 5w-20 and see what I get.

Had same issue on 01 4.0 @65K miles, one treatment of auto-rx did the trick. Quieted them down with in a few hundred miles of dosage. Have ran various dinos 5w-30 and 10w-40 and thing has been real nice sounding since now at 84K miles.

Folks are referring to the silver bottle as having decent formulation. Can be ordered from any NAPA. AZ discontinued carrying them. fyi

Fit and seal on the system from what I could find seemed ok. This is 5.4L Ford Expy cone filter. All other UOAs postd here I notice less than half the silicon #s than I got with the STP in there (similar mileage). I just put in a Motorcraft filter yesteday and the intake noise is definitely...

I just got a poor UOA with Silicon and other high wear #'s this time and I switched to STP since the previous UOA. I have since heard of one other such complaint. Wonder if anyone here has had the same issue ?

It's an '03. Just did air filter change, did have alot of trouble getting it back, but did double check it. I said the FE is half of original number from the first UOA. I believe this engine doesnt have Pb in the bearings from what I read. fyi
