of 28113-H9100 ( factory installed ) looks poorly made by MAHLE compared to the original made by LEEHAN . A bit concerned of the snug fit in housing , not as easy to install as the factory filter . Thoughts .

Looks to be 18.01.12, probably made on January 12, 2018.

Its tough to judge quality by visual inspection alone. If it seals tight and the media is as good or better than the factory install, then it should be o.k.. We just don't have much to go on to judge efficiency of air filters.

I find it interesting that Hyundai does the same thing that Ford and possibly others do/did. The factory part is made by a different company than the "OEM aftermarket" part. Ford factory Motorcraft oil filters used to be made by Champion while the Motorcraft filters available at dealers or stores were made by Purolator.

Looks like they make some of the H9100 in Mexico too:

It seems that you can still buy the H8100: https://www.factorykiapartsonline.com/oem-parts/kia-air-filter-28113h8100

Flashing excess looks poor. What was the source of replacement filter? I would return it and try again. Somehow it doesn't look right for an OE quality to have a frame like that.

I agree . Seems of poor quality . May put the FACTORY installed H9100 back in and remove the H8100 replacement filter . Not sure if the Hyundai parts department would accept it back . Could be hard to explain our concern of the H8100 . May try to locate the H9100 elsewhere .
