A couple of reasons. First off, the Baby Boomers had liberal teachers and professors back then, same as kids do now. Berkeley was the hot bed of liberalism / socialism then, just as it is now. The difference is the hippy counter culture bought into all that, "share the wealth" B.S. .......... Until we tried living it.
That whole, "Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out", nonsense sounded too good to be true. So many actually tried living it. Then, all of a sudden, living in a commune and working, while someone else was laying around eating your food, drinking your beer, smoking your dope, and banging your girl friend, just didn't add up to what we were told.
So we discovered for ourselves it's better to work hard, live on your own, and keep what you earned. Instead of sharing it with some worthless deadbeat. Who will never amount to the value of the powder it would take to blow him up.
Our generation went on to create guys like Larry Ellison, Steve Jobs, and the Bill Gates of the world. Today, (with the exception of a very few like Mark Zuckerberg ), we end up with the likes of, "Occupy Wall Street", and ANTIFA. With these same nit wits demanding free jobs, health care, housing, and everything else these idiots are preaching to them. They didn't snap out of it, and learn for themselves. We did. So now they crap on the sidewalk and urinate in the park, and break things. Because they think they're getting the short end of the stick.
B.S. is OK to listen to. We've all heard enough of it. The difference is the Millennial's still believe in it. Which is why they want to be able to stay on their parents health care until they're 26, when you are a legal adult at 21. The bulk of these basement dwellers just can't seem to grow up.
