Avalanche brake upgrade

I did the front brake upgrade to 13 inch rotors and calipers from the gmt 900. Bought the element 3 new calipers with brackets. and raybestos coated rotors with the raybestos police pads. The rotors have a good bit more area, and are thicker. Replaced the passenger side bearing hub that was causing false abs activation. I replaced the drivers side 6 months ago.

I forgot to snap pics of the calipers or the finished assembly.

I had to pound the bearing hub to get it out. I cleaned up the rust with an angle grinder with wire brus, and i used a stone to dress up the edge of the knuckle where i used a chisel.

The pads were FF, and the bearing is Timken.

I went for a 10 mile test drive. The pads are not even worn in with the rotor yet, and the braking is SO much better!! I also used a pentosin dot4 LV brake fluid, and I think it makes the brakes respond quicker.

Did the same with my 02. Wanted to refresh the front brakes so might as well step up.

Is it literally just a different caliper and rotor? (Plus pad to match)?

how do the police pads differ from typical consumer? More stopping power at the expense of dust?

Are those police pads rated FF or GG ?

Those rotors you got definitely look a lot better and thicker.

Yes bigger caliper, caliper bracket, bigger rotor and pads. All bolt-on.
I think the pads are more dad resistant.

i have been following some of the forums on the gm site , i have considered this , as i have been having brake issues with my 03 silverado
the one upgrade i did do is the 2 piston calipers in the rear ,which has made my concerns dissappear then to better it, guys were using the fronts from 04 to 06 i think, which used drums in back , somehow making the fronts a more stout setup ,,which i think is the upgrade of original post, and i believe that you need the 17 inch rims minimum for this mod
the latest rave for when you really want to stop , is putting the 2020 silverado 4 piston calipers and rotors on front , but that reqires special rims , its a totally bolt on setup using some washers as spacers
