That's interesting. My wife was in the hospitol 75 miles away so I (we) made several trips. The first run with the HM 10w-30 and I managed 22.4 mpg. I was at 13 months and 5k miles so I changed the oil and thought I would give API/ILSAC a try again. I put in Super Tech Syn 5w-30. Also, I changed the rear end oil from 80w-90 dyno to Syper Tech Syn 75w-140 Thought I would take a mpg hit on that one. The following hospitol trips were a solid 25 mpg. I hope this isn't a fluke!

That's a big jump in mpg! I didn't calculate my avg but IIRC, the 10W30 M1HM garnered me ~21 mpg or so. But I drove 99% local. Before the run on that oil, it was probably 26mpg with 75% local.

Old: Castrol GTX HM and a Fram TG2

New: 5 qts Valvoline Maxlife synthetic 0w-20 and 2 qts VWB SAE 30. Why, because I have been needed to get rid of the SAE 30 for quite a while now since I got rid of all OPE.

Roughly 5,000mi on this oil. First winter in Wyoming and my commute is 4 miles round trip so I didn't want to stretch it out.
Stocked up on Mobil 1 at Wal-Mart and used the rebate for the oil and filter.
