The Kyle Busch championship argument is valid except when you look at what happened. He was injured in a Xfinity Series race at Daytona. Daytona International Speedway is owned by International Speedway Corporation which itself is majority owned by the France family who own NASCAR itself. The spot where he hit was known to not be as protected as it could be. Therefore NASCAR had little to no choice but to grant an exemption. When the exemption was granted, Kyle still had to fulfill the requirements to qualify for the playoffs in significantly less time than everyone else. He won a points race, which earned him eligibility into the Playoffs assuming he could get his total points numbers in the top 35. Soon thereafter he pointed him putting him into the playoffs.
