Is this a suitable replacement for OE fluid? Knowing how picky Honda's system can be...

Thanks.

My local stealer is selling it for $4.70 including tax. So might be worth considering. I prefer and have always used Honda OEM PSF, just for some good night sleep.

$4.99 a pint?

I go to O'reilly's and buy their store brand for $6.99 per quart. It is in my mom's 2011 Honda CRV right now.

If you're lucky enough to have a 30% off promo code, it's only $3.49

Im a Honda guy and that sorta scares me.. I mean if you need some and there is nothing else then i guess use it..
However if you read the back of the bottle it will clearly tell you its not recommend or licend by Honda.

Even Prestone had to stop making there HONDA / ACURA brand of PS. Fluid

You can get Idemitsu PSF Universal Power Steering Fluid for Asian Vehicles - 12 oz.
for like $3.86 a bottle on amazon.. I have used this with no problem.s

Not true. Still being made and is available online at Walmart .com for store pick up, $2.45/12oz bottle. Recently ordered 4 bottles and completed a 5x suction res and fill on Accord using it. A little over three bottles required. Been using Prestone H/A PSF in two Hondas for awhile now, original pumps. If link disappears, google Prestone Honda Power Steering fluid.

It's actually a tad cheaper at Napa. Order it online and pick up in store

Prestone *did* stop making their Honda power steering fluid. I asked about it by email, and they confirmed that it is discontinued. Walmart's stock is just closeout, whatever they have left you can still purchase. Notice that it is not listed on Prestone's website

Not 'IME'. Here, it was discontinued for awhile both in store and online. Then online sales were restored as posted. I know this because I requested a WalMart restock notice through my email account. Got notification and ordered product as posted, picked up first week of April. As I read it was discontinued on bitog didn't think I would get notice. Glad I did.

As for the point of not being listed on Prestone website, even before it's brief disappearance it wasn't listed.

I know because I emailed Prestone asking why it wasn't shown on their site. Their reply was Prestone H/A PSF exclusive to WM and therefore not listed on their site. Seemed a reasonable answer to me. Imo, similar like Valvoline Asian Vehicle AF exclusive to WM.

Here's the text of the email reply to my query, dated 1/19/2018.

Good Morning (name excluded),

That product is manufactured at the request of, and sold exclusively by, Wal-Mart. As such, we do not advertise it in the same manner that we do the rest of our product line. I am not aware of any plans to discontinue that product. Please let me know if you require anything further.

Sincerely,

Aaron Jones

Perhaps it will go away in the future (hope not), but as posted currently still available .

Whatever the case, according to em I received Prestone website listing unrelated to availability. As currently back in stock online and has been since some time before first week April, guess only time will tell if permanently discontinued. For now, a solid value imo and available.

Otoh, topic fluid shows "on sale" at AAP for $4 same size bottle.

Ok perhaps i should say discontinued.

Im sure there are still some floating around and walmarts.. but prestone stopped making for some reason.

even this guy says so a few posts up

but only while supplies last, as Prestone discontinued their Honda PS fluid

Very interesting that Prestone makes "Honda/Acura" specifically for Walmart. At the parts store I work at we sell quite a few Prestone PSFs, in addition to several variations of our house brand and a few other brands.

-Prestone Power Steering Fluid
-Prestone Power Steering Fluid w/Stop Leak
-Prestone Full Syn Asian PSF Acura but also others (Toyota/Lexus/etc)
-Prestone Full Syn American PSF
-Prestone Full Syn European PSF

Those last three "full synthetic" ones are quite expensive for their size!!

Most notable we just started carrying Lube-Gard Complete Synthetic PSF. If I had to pick a universal one that's the one I'd pick. It doesn't say much on the bottle, but on their website it works in literally EVERY application EXCEPT for Honda/Acura, which I find very interesting:

Have we ever figured out what's different about Honda PSF??
