That’s interesting because one up to operating temperature there would be very little difference in viscosity. What else do you think is happening?
No idea. It drinks 5w30 to the tune of a qt in 1200 miles.Always Super-S. No measurable usage with 10w30 in my 5000m oci.
My 2004 Buick Rainier with the 5.3 V8 just clicked past 195,000 miles and does great on Mobil 1 5w30 HM from Walmart. I've always followed the oil-life monitor and typically change oil and filter (Fram Ultra) around 6,500 miles. Maybe down 1/4 quart between changes.
My 2005 Silverado 5.3 just rolled 175k last week. I’ve been using Mobil 1 5w30 for the past few years, before that it was either M1, PP, QSUD & Valvoline Syn thru the years.
