I am in the process of stripping the Lacquor in a cornet. This is the third one. The first one was practice (cheap student horn). The second a pretty decent (more $$$$). The first two I merely stripped the lacquor and applied numerous coats of wax.
The one I am working now is "Vintage". Understand I somewhat destroyed the value of it...It will be a playing horn and the finish was garbage.
Question: I intend to put a clear lacquor on this one to preserve it a bit better. What should I use and how do I prepare the surface. Additionl info on application would be helpful. The finish is now 400 grit. I will finish off with green rouge prior to lacquor application.
