I will be installing new front struts myself and taking apart and putting them back together. I bought a new bumper/bellows kit for them.

My question: Does the wide end of the bumper usually face up or down?

Look at the ID of the bumper. The tighter end should be at the top towards the stem. This will ensure the bumper is held up near the top after the suspension cycles a few times.

I'm surprised it isn't marked to tell you which side is the top.

Compare the old strut bumper to the new bumper.
