This is on my grandparent's 2011 Honda CR-V LX 66k miles.

When accelerating with around 1/2 or more throttle, the A/C compressor kicks off and it starts blowing warm air out of the vents. Once up to speed it gets cold again. A few months ago I had my mechanic check out the A/C and the pressures are fine, don't remember what they were but he said they were fine. I know full throttle on most modern cars will do this but 1/2 throttle? We need all the A/C we can get in Phoenix.

Hard throttle usage is mandatory, this K24 is gutless in this car.

Thanks for any ideas.

With gas pedal tuning from "throttle by wire" halfway down is close to full throttle
so its reasonable they turn off the A/C.

Operating as intended.

Haven't had this issue with countless other cars with throttle by wire

That's why it's programmed to lock out at half throttle wink

My escort does this, it is a little low on refrigerant. At idle the low side pressure won't drop below 25 psi or so but when you rev it up it drops to about 22psi when the low pressure switch shuts off the compressor until the low side pressure comes back up. It never really shuts off long enough for the air to get warm, but then again I'm not in Phoenix.

Check the pressures again at 2000 rpm at least.

Don't need throttle by wire. Many cars have a manifold vacuum switch to cut compressor when you use a lot of throttle.
May save the compressor from over speed and may save your butt passing on the 2 lane Hwy.

My BMW 540 wagon would cut the compressor at WOT only. I thought it was a cool feature. But half throttle in a 4 pot suv sounds like a bad idea.

We might be driving it up to Utah on September 8th so if there's a switch or sensor we can replace that would be awesome. Hopefully it isn't just the nature of the beast.

Below are just some of the modern cars I've driven quite a bit that don't do this:
2015 Sonata
2016 Avalon
2005 Tahoe
2002 Trailblazer
2012 Patriot
2014 Grand Caravan
2007 FJ Cruiser
2013 Beetle

I wouldn't care for that type of activity either. If I want the a/c off I can push the button myself for that moment.

By chance are you running in eco mode? Just wondering if there is a reason besides the computer trying to out think the driver.

They cut the compressor off to help with acceleration.

U Shouldn't be needing 1//2 throttle enough to bother your a/c.

If so you need a tune up bad - or a different car with a turbo

or sum ting WANG.

+1.

Had this on several vehicles as early as 2000 models.
