Going to send samples to Blackstone of BMW MTF-LT-2 and Liquimoly FULLY SYNTHETIC HYPOID GEAR OIL (GL5) LS SAE 75W-140 (4420) fluid from my 2002 M3.

Are the standard tests sufficient or should I be getting any additional tests?

Thanks.

Blackstone is very expensive and doesn't provide solutions or understanding. Go to another lab where you will find what you're looking for.

And what are you hoping to learn from the gear oil uoa? That will help determine what, if any, additional tests need performing depending on the lab you send samples to.

Very tough to do UOA on diffs. Must know a lot of proprietary metallurgy few will ever know.

Had the carrier bearings replaced in the diff and want to make sure there is no abnormal wear in the diff or the trans.

You won't know the metallurgy, it'll be practically useless other than seeing some wear values you won't understand nor will they. Gears and diffs are the toughest UOA to do. You need proprietary metallurgy information.
