Looks like I'll be doing it again
You gotta jack it up, remove the LF wheel, jack the trans pan, loosen the mount, jack the trans, remove the mount, support the trans, remove the jack Please just shoot me now
Because last time I did it, I guess I did it wrong
Last October, I dropped the pan on the Camry's U151E trans, (which is a chore)
I bought a B/A Trans service kit filter and gasket (rubber), and some Mobil 3309 ATF to replace some horrible shifting Transmax IMV
It's seeped ever since, never enough to drip, but I still don't like it (It never leaked until I touched it)
Never mind it still shifts just OK (think I got a mount going),
I'm gonna service it one last time, hopefully get it right this time
Got more Mobil 3309 ATF, OEM Toyota Filter, OEM Toyota Cork/Rubber pan gasket, OEM Toyota drain plug/crush washer, and a bottle of LG Platinum
This time, I'm thinking Permatex #2 sealer, since I don't have 24 hours for Ultra Gray/Black, and I had good luck with it on the Escort's thermostat housing
Now that I've got a service manual and torque specs for the whole car (now I can do drive belts!), I've been informed of my possible leak path
Three Bond 2430???
[censored] IS THAT?
Google turns up people asking the same question as me
Is it a thread sealant? Is it a thread locker? Is it both?
Whatever it is, you can't get it anymore, it doesn't exist, Toyota doesn't have it, and there's no successor
Now the only similar product I've been able to find (locally for the planned job today) is Permatex High Temp Thread Sealant
https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-59214-Te...=thread+sealant
Do we think this is suitable?
Can the experts give guidance?
Thank You
