I don't see a problem using old oil, as long as it is sealed and properly stored. I have 12 year old oil that is used in a 19 year old minivan. After all, the van was designed to use 19 year old oil.
I still have M1 10w-30 sl rated, average purchase price of $2.89 qt.

What has happened to polite conservation? Refrain from pointless posts. Try not to criticize others for silly mistakes.

Ahhh, those marketing departments.....
Your oil's condition is speculation until a UOA has been performed.

I would use expired oil. I would leave them upside down for a day or two before use..

I think it is a more of a move to get retailers to move/refresh inventory. We have all seen the super old, beat up stuff.

For sure, and it'll help stock rotation a lot better than some cryptic marking understood only by a few at the oil company.
