I've used the XPs in my Taurus V8 SHO, '93 Festiva and now the 2008 Hyundai Accent. Great plug for the price and you can always get a rebate from Honeywell.

I could list for you tons of vehicles my dad has put them in at his old service station, and all of our vehicles before our current ones have all run Champions without any problems whatsoever.

Our friends/family/neighbours are all running Champions as that's what my dad puts in when they ask for a tune-up.

And a SP wrecking an engine? How???
 
Most iridium plugs only have it on one side - usually platinum on the other.
Why? Good question.

Many modern ignitions are 'waste spark' types, with 2 plugs firing at the same time , one +=to-, and the other-to+. I'd like similar metals and construction to be used.
Double plats by Motorcraft are excellent plugs.

You've peaked my curiosity, can you produce some of these examples? I've never heard that champions cause damage.
 
Me to,I have never heard of damage with Champions.I put in lot of Champions in Chrysler products which Chrysler has used to this day and recomends without any problems.

You're right! The key marketing word is "enhanced". What does that mean? It means you are not buying a true iridium plug. You're actually buying a plug that has some iridium and platinum mixed together in the tip. If you want a true iridium plug, you'd have to buy an NGK or Denso. The same marketing trick can be seen with Bosch and their IR fusion plugs (keyword "fusion"). I've seen all the snake oil on the market, do your homework and don't get burned by shady marketing.

To be fair one of those links believes it was completely the wrong plug (too long) and the other had carburetor issues.

It looks to me that champion has the wrong application / heat range listed, not a design or materials issue that would make them "junk".

got any other examples besides this single application? how about some car/truck engines with issues.
 
I'm running them in a Mazda MPV with a 3.0 liter Duratech. It runs great; better than before @ 45k.

Champs are death for a ninja 250. The last link has pics of the pistons with holes in them. Seems they can't handle the heat of a high performance application.

Clearly the Wrong plug was used for Those applications..

Similar too.. If you put 85 unleaded octane in an engine that requires 100 leaded octane. It is going to screw up the engine.

Nothing but USER ERROR in those links.

Check a Mazda forum and see what people are using, and have good results.
 
I think Autolite plugs are a poor choice. Just look closely at the center electrode as the plug is turned and sometimes you'll see that it isn't centered very well inside the metal shell. Look closely at both electrodes and see how parallel they are to each other(AKA gap consistency). Also, check both electrodes and make sure they are lined up with each other(sometimes the grounding electrode needs a slight twist to center it over the center electrode).
 
I agree with the comment about aligning the ground with the electrode; you need to look at these things really close up, make sure you have the correct glasses on. I've used all three: Champion iridiums work like a champ (that's why they call it that, but just be sure to get the right one); NGK work like most things Japanese, their iridiums are top notch, be sure to get the one with the platinum ground (the cheaper ones have a standard type of ground), As for the Autolite, it's slightly cheaper, if you make sure and be very precise about lining up the ground electrode, it will work like a champ as well. Be sure to use a feeler guage to gap them, sometimes the gap can be way off, even though supposedly they are "pre gapped".
 
MOtorcrafts are very good.
Autolites are pretty good, but my second choice.
They are not connected companies.
Iridium is a great electrode tip material. In anybody's brand, they will be the premium plug type.

So are you saying that Autolite does not make Motorcraft spark plugs? If that's the case who does make them?

I found on Autolite's web site that in 1987 "Autolite produces first Platinum Spark Plug for Ford O.E."
