ZDDP additives.

I was looking atsome of these and what interests me is what is in these additives apart from the ZDDP.

The carrier for ZDDPlus is not specified. According to the MSDS it has Density: 0.990 @ 20° C per ASTM D-1298. Is this the same as specific gravity. Of course it only makes up a small proportion of the treated oil, so no biggy probably.

Also they mention the product contains Zinc Oxide. I would like to know more about this also.

"As you can see from the ZDDPlus™ calculations, the zinc level when targeting the 1800-2000 ppm phosphorus mark falls in the 2400-2500 ppm range. This extra zinc is due to good over-compounding with zinc oxide during the ZDDP manufacture. This extra zinc in the form of zinc oxide helps give a high TBN (total base number) for excellent long-term acid neutralization."

that density is nearly on par with water. Must be some interesting hydrocarbon...
