I've used Fram Ultra Synthetic XG filters for the last several years. Just this week I learned that they had been changed. I'm switching two of my vehicles to Fram Endurance filters, but they don't make an equivalent Endurance for my truck. Specifically, I have used the XG3675. There is not a FE3675. It appears that I would have to go to the shorter FE3506 in the Endurance line. The similar FE9837 does not have an ADBV like my vehicle calls for. The vehicle is a '01 GMC Sierra with a 6.0L. I like to run the longer 3675 filter. I have also run the Wix 51522. The engine makes about 400 RWHP, but is only driven <5K miles/year. What would you use in this case?

Go to Purolator website then enter in your Fram part number to see what options you have. The One is rated for 15k while the Boss is 20k & Poly reinforced backing media. Oreilly's Auto Microgard Selects are 10k rated filters. STP has some nice offerings on their extended mileage filters as well. Just check around on what you want to try.

Basically, what I'm looking for is a 3675/51522 equivalent 4" tall filter with a mesh backed media and at least 99% @ 25 microns efficiency.

I just cut open a Castrol cas3675 and m1-107 last night if anyone is interested in the construction. Discovered an internal coolant leak and sludge in my 4.8. Cleaned out as much of the sludge as possible but now I have to be careful about the filters plugging up, so I'm changing like every 500 miles.
Have to figure out how to get the end caps off so I can check inside the pleats but the m1 that ran 5k (before I disturbed the sludge) was much dirtier than expected.

check local AAP’s. i too use a 3675. i’ve collected roughly 30 of them. check the Titanium’s. the microgard has a bypass valve in the filter for some reason. if you can’t find anything else i would rock with the carquest premium.

Also, the enrdurance is a relabeled champion labs filter just as the royal purple and amsoil. you could get the royal purple through oriley. i know they make one that crosses to 3675.

How about the Titanium line?

Usually a lookup for my truck pulls up the shorter 3506 size filter, but Royal Purple is recommending a 20-59 which is 4.45" tall. Nice! Unfortunately, I can't find it for a reasonable price anywhere.

About the FE9837...what is the purpose of a ADBV if the filter installs vertically anyway? Why would one be needed for my application?

The position the filter does not matter. The ADBV keeps the oil up in the galleries when the engine is off. When you start the engine oil is already in the galleries and ready to lubricate the engine.

For the historians in the crowd, the 2001-2006 6.0 took the AC Delco PF 46. The filter was changed in 2007/08 when GM brought out the Gen IV 6.0. The new filter was the PF 48 and the Fram version became the 10060.
