I know I am new, and sadly I also realized just the other day, that I need to unlearn and then relearn, nearly everything I thought I knew about oil and lots of other stuff too. But I think I have an idea that may be worth trying. Then again I know I can be really dense, and so I want your informed opinion.
Here it is.
I have a K&N Apollo closed intake filter box, and of course it has a K&N oiled mesh filter inside. I need that filter box, because of the cowl inducted ram air system I have, and yet I worry about the poor filtering of K&N mesh filters.
I think it could be helpful, to lightly dust the filter mesh, with something that would ........
1. fill those teeny tiny places salt and other bad stuff would lodge in otherwise.
2. not hurt the engine and will also even neutralize the "bad stuff", like salt etc., that could harm my filter mesh.
3. be of the right size, weight, density, surface texture etc., that would make my K&N more efficient at filtering out small particles.
If feasible, then I could just dust it on and reinstall the filter, happy in knowing I have both protected my filter and made it a bit more efficient. Yes I would be willing to trade a bit of flow for more efficient filtering.
Thank you for considering my idea. I look forward to your responses.
