Better tell Walmart that their still selling it look at their online site.

A Walmart current online listing

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Castrol-GTX-M...=10&veh=aff

That's GTX Magnatec, which is yet another different product from GTX.

No its just another product in the GTX line!

Castrol GTX Ultraclean = Synthetic blend. New.
Castrol GTX Magnatec = Synthetic blend. Been around for a while. Still around.
Castrol GTX = Conventional. No longer exists.

Last time i saw GTX on the shelf, in Costco, it wasn't labelled semi synthetic.

Was in the same white bottle it has been in for decades.

Didn't meet SN either.

Maybe the GTX we get in the UK is different to the US?

I have only ever seen it in 15w40

Edit

Just did a Google. The 15w40 meets SL and is indeed labelled as "Part Sythetic".

Only time I have ever seen that term used. It is also the only oil i have seen in a long time that only meets A3/B3. Not B4.

Castrol says 0W-20 and 5W-20 are full synthetic while 5W-30 and 10W-XX are blends

So much disinformation, wow.. refer to my post here, you can see the real info from Castrol. Unless people just don't want the truth?

And as far as GTX and GTX Ultraclean being available at the same time. It's true, some 5w20 and 5w30 GTX is still on the shelf until they work that out of the stock. That's the reason you can find both.

here's my post.. couple posts up from this one

Sorry but 5w-30 comes in both blend and full synthetic.

They were talking about GTX Magnatec. The first link you posted is not Magnatec. Instead, it's GTX High Mileage - yet another animal altogether.

Thats right and I stated that GTX comes in both blend and full synthetic is that true or not.

I have seen no memo out of Castrol or official notice that the production of said oils was stopping. If someone has that information post it. Rather than the BITOG Buffalo Chips are burning stories.

I have seen this but where does it say the other GTX items will be going out of production or that this is the replacement of those items?

I think without a News bulletin or a statement on Castrol letter head a lot of folks are jumping to conclusion. I don't use GTX so frankly I could care but I don't think we're dealing with anything here yet than a BITOG rumor.

GTX 5W20 and 5W30 are being replaced with GTX Ultraclean in those viscosity. The snapshot i posted from their website delineates the viscosity differences as follows:

GTX Ultraclean will come in 5W20, 5W30.
GTX will come in heavier 10W30, 10W40 and 20W50

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Other parts of the world do get GTX Ultraclean in 10W30 and it's labled as 'synthetic technology'. That's another topic though.

For arguments sake, Castrol never made a big deal of switching Magnatec 5W20 and 5W30 from synthetic blend to full synthetic either. Members just saw it on the shelves and commented.

Conventional yes I can believe that but they said what about full synthetic and blend since you asked?

Other posts are quoted for specific reference. Note, it says "GTX Magnatec". The information I referred to was from Castrol (their website) too, not from Walmart.

Even though the Ultraclean may be replacing the non-UC GTX, Castrol probably put the new formula in the old GTX bottles *before* rolling out the new Ultraclean name in the new bottles.

And SN essentially requires a syn blend anyway. The SN standard has been out for about 5 years now.

Castrol also updated the Magnatec line, so now all of it is full synthetic, including 5w0 and 10w30 variants
