Where is Doug Hillary?

I wondered the same thing. I hope he is ok and just preoccupied.
I'm hoping he's vacationing somewhere nice. He's a great guy and an asset to the board.

There are a lot of old timers not posting anymore.
He is probably riding a nice bike or driving a car at some perfect beach. Lucky!

Hopefully he is well. Users need to recognize that giving people with wealth of experience an excessively hard time turns them off to sharing their knowledge. Hope this isnt the case here.

Agreed! Unfortunately those who need to know won't read your post to consider it. I too have been wondering where he's been.

Doug is around and enjoying life.
In my own humble opinion, I think Doug is just tired of seeing the same things over and over again on here. He even went as far as to write an article for this site and yet.... the myth perpetuates.
I don't blame him one bit for not posting as much anymore. He's got better things to do with his time than wasting it on armchair chemists and keyboard quarterbacks who think they know better.

I heard from him a short while ago. Last I heard, he was enjoying the European racing scene. Wish I was there!
Doug was on the forum just two days ago, he just hasn't posted for a while, no worries.

Your posts in this thread imply that you put very little value on members with actual tribological experience departing this forum to be replaced by people who simply parrot rhetoric instead. Doug is not the first tribologist to wind down posting on this board (which is why others are expressing concern in this thread BTW), we've had several others part with this forum in my short tenure here...... For a board that has been prided on providing FACTUAL information, that does not bode well for its future.
You are free to disagree with me of course, but if you don't find it concerning that the only people who actually know what they are talking about are slowly leaving this board, turning it into "just another forum" then I'm afraid you joined BITOG for a different reason than I did.

All I can say is read some oil hocus pocus on other forums and you will see, in general, BITOG is somewhat centered. I may not always agree with Doug, but he helps keep the discussion out of the weeds.
