Have you seen PU in Ontario?

SM stuff used to be here but no SN PU.

I had my bro in law grab a couple jugs from NY when he was coming over, it turned out to be the SM stuff (which if I recollect is the one that has more detergents...)

Man I have been wondering the same thing in Montreal.

SM gave slight consumption on my Fit but I'd love to give SN a try.

I have 2.3 Litres left to use, may mix with 1.3 Litres of PP SN and use next Winter as I am torn between running Toyota 0W20 SN this Summer or PYB 5W20 SN that I just picked up.

I figured if I had horrible valve tick with TGMO I can dump it and put in the PYB right away and only be down the 10.88$ on the OCI for the cost of the PYB.

They PU 5W20 jug is so pretty I plan on keeping it as my oil recepticle to measure with as it has a windowed measuring side that is very accurate.

Basically Pennzoil Ultra has a TBN in Amsoil territory with very with very poor volatility. Some conventionals have better volatility. You're better off just using PP or springing for the extra money for the Amsoil.

Lol Norris was just looking up a jobber near me, Synbec, and may go that direction with a 10$ trial preferred account.

I'd swing by his place if possible to avoid the shipping fees.

Was thinking of getting 4 changes worth of 0W20 Amsoil SSO and doing 1 year OCIs.

The wear numbers on Amsoil for that long are incredible.

Except he didn't ask about PP vs PU.

Something is messed up here as I didn't reply to this thread. I did reply to another thread where the OP asked about PP vs PU. And the OP replied to me. Strange .....

Yeah, I think the mods did some "cleaning up" in this thread as my responses are gone, too.

I had a moderator remove the thread where I asked what the difference was between the 2.You replied to do a search.

In Canada...with PP as good as it is, there was no interest in the extra possible 1% PU could offer...that and the extreme premium price difference ~$50 for PU that never goes on sale when compared to PP regularly going on sale for ~$20 4.4-4.7L jugs...I never even gave it second thought...for me anyways

Weird, In the US the Ultra is only like $4 more than Platinum..

Norris your facts are a bit distorted. PU has a very low NOACK Volatility rating . It has a very low volatility much better than all conventionals.

The marketing for Ultra in Canada was non existent it got confusing at our Walmarts here because they actually sold Platinum for $1 more per jug than Ultra! Ultra never went on sale though so we could often find Platinum much cheaper, but in terms of everyday pricing it made it look like Ultra was not as good of a product. So it only lasted a few months up here at Walmart, and it never made it onto the shelves of Canadian Tire at all. NAPA did carry it in one liter bottles for a while, but I'm not sure if they still do anymore.
