Lost cops.

Let's see...

I drove 132 MPH in my buddies 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix

...THEN, while going that fast, he said: "You better slow down, I for got to tell you there's only 2 studs on the back tire."

Needless to say, I was ticked off big time & slowed down immediately!!!

Had a 1968 Ford "Cobra" NOT SHELBY! There were 1,500 (I think) of these built. Just enough to qualify as a production car for NASCAR. A fastback Torino with a 428SCJ, C6 transmission and 3.10 gears. Only registered 120. Never found a road long enough to tach it out.

Also rode 14 miles with a buddy in a '67 Buick Gran Sport in 7 minutes.

MANY years ago I ran two passes at 110 MPH and a third at 115 MPH down Home Acres Road just outside of Everett, Washington (statute of limitations says I can blab). Ran it in my 1965 Dodge Coronet 500, 383-4V dual exhaust (and what a fun and now very rare car!!!)

140 in a 1969 Roadrunner. Brand new just left the dealers lot. 10 miles down the road had it on 140. The dadgum hood came loose busted the windshield and caved in the roof. I dont't know how I did it, but I got it stopped without cleaning out the ditches. However something else needed cleaning out. Dealer fixed it and told me at least 10 times how sorry they were that it happened. Never drove it over 80 after that.

Coming back from Sturgis I hit a GPS indicated 112mph riding my 1500 Goldwing on State 34. Rode a BMW K1200GT around 145mph during a demo ride (leader was on a Hayabusa- go figure). My 24v Taurus is governed to 113mph. Remember- these were done on a closed course by highly trained professionals...

1988 Honda CBR 600, modified. Went for a ride late one Labor-day weekend Sunday night. Not much traffic out at that time, around 11pm. I wanted to see if I could get it up to about 90 between stoplights in the 2-land forest perserve road area where I lived at, a bit more than 1 mile between them.

I thought I was in 3rd gear, I wasn't...the bike was in 4th, I swear only going about 75-80mph, when I looked down the gauge said something more than 120mph. First I said it, then I did it. My first thought was that I wouldn't be able to stop for the light as I was traveling a good 50mph more than I thought I was. Turned around and drove the bike back to my house at the posted limits where I handed my buddy back to my friend. Never drove it again.

That thing was truly a rocket between my legs. Unbelievable power.

Driving? A pansy 99 mph in a rental camaro 3.8 somewhere in the desert. No GPS nanny in that car, I checked. :)

As a 15 year old passenger, my cousin got his dad's new Mazda MX6 up to 120; the tach was only at ~4 k RPM and I wondered if he could go faster in 4th than 5th. We were going to the supermarket for a meat platter for a funeral, he had his mom's check and said, "I hope we don't need ID to use this check, I don't have it on me." Nerdy me points out that he could be driving less conspicuously without a license.

"Oh, it's okay, you have 24 hours to procure it."

Buried the needle in my dad's escort wagon, there was some sort of blue-light special with 15 state police cars at something so a mile down the road I figured they were all busy and I'd see what that ford could do.

146mph in my Roadmaster. Back when it had minimal mods. With 3.73s now, and a 6200rpm rev limiter, and 26" tall tires, I should be able to go 16xish on a good road. Probably never will. Uusually 120-130 is enough for me.

Probably 105 in my old Hyundai Elantra. I know that car saw 100 on a few occasions and some sustained runs at 85-90+ on distant un-named roads.

Back in the early seventies I got to ride in a Trans-Am Camaro race car on a road course in Monterey Mexico. I haven't the faintest idea what the top end was, but it was up there. Definitely one of the biggest rushes I have ever had.

Somewhere around 165 heading into the chicane at Daytona International Speedway. We mounted a camera on the tank, and the speedo said 180. Was a good draft with some of the traffic in practice. That was in 2001 on a 2001 GSXR600. Went faster lap time wise on my Yamaha R6 in 2004, but we didn't have a camera on that bike to see what was going on there.

Somewhere north of 120 in a friends 90's Ford Probe GT. Nice car for its time... I haven't felt a strong urge for that kind of speed since (and would be difficult in my current fleet!).

I believe 110mph is the highest I've driven any one of my automobiles. This was performed on a private racing track, under professional supervision. Do not attempt this on a public motorway. Viewer discretion advised.
