What makes lifeguard 8 special?

This 100%.
I've known a few BMW owners who used MaxLife in their ZF8 without issue, some of them are tuned 335i's. With that said a couple bucks more per quart of fluid to get the ZF stuff shouldn't break the bank.

The ZF fluid is over $30/qt
There's always that comment from the guy(s) who says, 'just pay for that expensive transmission/engine/differential fluid'.
What the big-spender is not thinking of: I've owned and maintained 10 nice BMWs for the price of one person to maintain 2.
I just bought fun/spare car for 1,000 bux and it runs. I want it to run longer but i'm not going to spend another 1,000 bux on "dealership" fluids. If the tranny dies, oh well. I'll part-out the rest of the car.

Point is: there are other circumstances and perspectives when buying fluids. Also, 'Fresh Trumps Fancy'. Fresh, cheap fluids twice as often is better than expensive fluids half as often.

All my opinion, of course. This is an internet blog afterall.
