Community college is a steal here. There are multiple campuses - all on bus routes, free tutoring and help, free labs, free computer/Internet access, free parking.

Yep and the military also offer Associates degees in fields that you can use in the real world. I have an Associates degree from the Air Force CC in electronics and made great money as a civilian with my military training.

As a reference, if you were taking those same classes full-time at a Cal State school (i.e. Cal Poly) You'd pay a flat rate $6500 per year, with $2200 of that as fees. You'd also get to buy text books for $100-$300 for each of your 4 classes per quarter. A parking permit will cost you $130 per quarter.

CC is still cheap even though it feels expensive. It's now 2x more than when I was in CC in 2007. Make the most of your investment and your ROI is quick with the increase in your salary.

So our college fess are cheap in California comaperd to the rest of the country, but our sales and income tax are insane. We pay for it one way or another. I have paid income taxes and sales taxes since 1975. I think it is time I got something back.
