What happened to Goodyear?

All or most of their tires seem to be discontinued, particularly the popular passenger all season lines like the Assurance Comforted and TripleTred and the Fuel Max. Only a couple sizes left of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric AS as well (a UHP all-season).

Whatever Goodyear is replacing them with don't seem to be out yet.

What is going on with them?

I wanted to go with the Silent Armors on my new to me Blazer last weekend, but those are discontinued too. They were a very decent looking AT tire IMO.

Ended up going with BFG KO2's.

Probably just the website you were looking on. My brother just bought some Comfort Tread Assurance for his 2014 Camry recently from a tire shop.

Been a couple years since I've bought tires, but I honestly haven't paid much attention to Goodyear. Years ago I did have the Triple Tread tires on an old Grand Am, and those tires were excellent; wore like iron, nice performance all around, and low road noise. They had a directional tread pattern and looked nice, too.

I've never had a set of Goodyear that I liked. Had the Assurance Fuel Max on the Camry and absolutely hated them. Noisiest tire I've ever owned by far. Maybe I just haven't had the right models.

Discount tire has several Goodyear tire types. Hated the fuel max.Love the assurance comfort tred tourings. Short life on the tourings about 45,000 on my Accord.

Latest I know' is that Goodyear has about 50 or so off brand tires, like Douglas, Viva 3, and other tire shop house brands. In my amateur opinion, it seems like this is the direction tire makers are moving toward. Stores and shops like it, because most people don't know, so it makes it difficult to cross-shop and compare prices and products.

Seriously though, when my Primewells run out I want to get two new steelies (they are bent) and put on a brand new set of four Eagles.

Weird-I just bought a set of Tripletreds for the MGM in my sig last year, AFAIK they still make them.

There's a Costco down the highway from me who was testing Goodyear - just the Fuel Max and Wrangler SR-A.

Goodyear is also pulling out of some retail stores as well. There was one around the corner from me, it's now a "Goodyear Service Network" location.

I thought the Arizonian (at least Arizonian Silver Edition III) was made by Cooper

I was at DT recently getting rotation/balance done and there were GY tires at the one I went to.

Tire Rack's Goodyear page is missing a lot of the popular passenger all season tires. The Assurance All Season (which recently replaced the Integrity), the Comfortred Touring (a ground touring all-season), the Fuel Max (a passenger all-season), and the Eagle Sport A/S (their high performance all-season).

The Assurance Comfortred (NOT the same thing as the Comfortred Touring) is only available in one size, and the Eage F1 Asymmetric All Season )an ultra high performance AS) is only available in a couple sizes.

DTD's availability is slightly better, but still a lot slimmer selection than they used to offer.

Just my anecdote but it seems like any of Goodyears non premium tires tends to be very hard compound and noisy. It's like they still manufacture with the old school mindset and haven't figured out how to optimize comfort and treadlife and noise.

Pretty much any foreign tire I've used has been the complete opposite - comfortable and quiet, but not quite as long lasting but at 40% cheaper I'm willing to accept the reduced life.

That said, there are millions of vehicles out there driving on rock hard and cracked Goodyear Wrangler tires that haven't given up.
