Something is wrong on my car then. The 9005 is the one lighting up when turning on the lights and the H11 and 9005 light up when flicking on the brights.

Do your bulbs and (more importantly) socket positions align with what is shown in this video?

Were the connectors cut off and re-spliced into the other wires ? On most modern cars, there's never that much slack (on purpose) to allow most connectors to reach the wrong location(s).
