cool post

BTW, many poeple wouldn't bother to reach down and pick up a penny as it is not worth the trouble. I heard that for Bill Gates, the equivalent of a penny is $60,000. Wouldn't be worth the trouble to bend down and pick it up!

One that seems to make it easier to understand million vs billion is 'if you gave your wife/girlfriend $19,231 a week to spend on a shopping trip with a max of a million dollars she would be back in a year. If you gave her a billion dollars for a shopping trip she would not come back in a thousand years.'

Paraphrasing the above 'if you gave your government $19,230,769 a week to spend with a max of a billion dollars they want more in a year. If you gave them $19 billion a week to spend with a max of trillion they'd again be back in year'.

One pallet should suffice for me......

if 10 grand is a 1/2 inch tall stack of 100 dollar bills.....

=1e12/1e4/2/12/5280 is a trillion dollar stack in miles....

plug that into excel and smile at the imaginary stack formed in your mind.

That was the nature of my sig a few weeks ago.

10.7T in single dollar bills gets to the moon, back, and nearly there again.

A trillion here, a trillion there... eventually this bailout stuff might add up to some real money.

We should rename a billion dollars. Giga dollars sounds more impressive.

Putting a new meaning to you can go further on Aussie dollars.

that webpage got it wrong. a trillion in the US is one thousand millions, or 1 x10^9, they made it out as 1x 10^12.

in many other parts of the world a billion is indeed 10^12 and the correct word for 10^9 is trilliard.

Given that our dollar (coin) is 0.080" versus 0.008" for your buck,

Can get there and back 30-35 times depending on exchange rate using our coinage.
