If you have Verizon as your cell provider and have multiple lines you may want to shop around. They just announced they are changing the paperless autopay discount from $10 PER LINE to just $5 PER MONTH. For me, I have 6 lines, this is a $55 a month increase to my bill. I have been with Verizon for 32 years and now I am looking to switch. I would be okay with a drop to $5 per line discount but not $5 a month only for all lines. The reason in the email announcement, of course, is due to rising costs......BS

I figured the internet would start lighting up over this - maybe they will back pedal on this.

They must be redoing something. They put Total Wireless back to Total wireless after re branding it a year or so ago and backpedaled on kicking everyone off their old plans. It also looks like they aren't going to mess with the other off brands now either like they were talking about at one point.

I got the same notice. I am fed up with Verizon. I have 7 lines, friends and family on my plan and the juice just ain’t worth the squeeze anymore.

I should prob just move to spectrum mobile and bundle it with my cable. Verizon coverage as of late isn’t what it used to be. They really need to fix some of the antennas near me.

I didn't mention that point - same with me - since the big 5G push I have lost critical coverage areas near my house as well as on my commutes. Used to be strong 3,4 and 5 bars signal not I run often at 1 or 2 bars and the internet has slowed down a lot as well.

I was hearing from a neighbor VZ tech that they are getting rid of the discount all together, and will charge up to 20 bucks more a month if you don’t use autopay with a stored bank account.

This will be a fight they do not back down from…..

Comcast is going the same way

Been a customer since 2008 and it's been all downhill. I even haven't gotten anything from the class action, and if one notices, as soon as the class action was announced where info was collected on how one wants to be paid, the rates all went up to recoup.

The only thing I can say is the equipment subsidies are hard to match. For example, my iPhone 13 Pro 256 was $309, brand new, no trade. That is well below what any unlocked eBay device would cost. Maybe, when one adds up the overcharging it's not really $309, because the catch is unlike 2008 where it was a 18 mo. upgrade and 24 mo. contract, it's a 36 mo contract.

I know being the person who does the corp acct, that a top of the line whatever iphone TB whatever is around $499, the day it is launched. It's just for us consumers that we see 4 figure phones discounted to hundreds and we have to grab them...

Just like cable, the alternative is to do without.

p.s. I got a $4/mo increase for nothing at all, literally. I then could get 5G UW for $6/mo more, so I took it. It's out of spec but I've gotten higher than 1000 mbps down. No higher than 70 mbps up. But see the game? They got $6/mo more out of me. I had to look at it as $4 for nothing, $6 for something....

does anyone really need that kind of speed on a cellphone?

I would say yes, if anyone backs up say pics/vids to the cloud. It’s inadequate and I try to wait if possible until I am home. Videos take forever. What I notice about Speedtests is they show the fastest achieved during the test, not the avg. What takes seconds at home, takes minutes in 5G UW. I haven’t been to a stadium since—I would like to hope I have some service while the peons (that was a joke) with base plans (used to be me) essentially have no service at all due to priority.

Download speeds, of say 700 mbps, I would say less needed. At least for me I am rarely downloading unless a new app.

Yeah, got the same email yesterday. We have 4 phones in my family, so my bill goes up $35. They seem to want us to switch to a different plan called MyPlan. Probably NOT beneficial to us, but I need to look into it.

We live in Charlotte, NC suburbs (South Carolina side) and Verizon is by far the best coverage. We had Sprint before and it was pretty bad. So, we're kind of up a body of water without any form of propulsion.

Wonder what the bottom $$$ amount increase that is for Verizon overall. Has to be million and millions.

Unrelated to your issue with Verizon, I had an interesting issue with Verizon as compared to AT&T on my recent 2 week vacation in Israel.

I have 1 Verizon phone in my family, and the rest are AT&T.
We enabled the international day pass on all phones. The AT&T phones had 5G in Israel, but the Verizon 5G phone was only getting 4G.
Perhaps Verizon did some cost cutting in the contracts with international carriers to limit their international day pass to only 4G service.
Also, in some areas in Israel, I was getting 3G on Verizon and 4G on AT&T. Seems like the Verizon phone chose the slowest data speed connections.

Another observations in Israel was: I was able to use the AT&T phone's hotspot to generate wifi for a laptop we brought with us at no additional charge. But when trying to turn on the Verizon phone's hotspot, I got a message that I would be charged extra by the Megabyte (not Gigabyte).

Verizon seems to have some hidden cost cutting that makes their service less desirable for some features.

I would just use my home WiFi for backups of larger files and videos. To live premium one must pay the premium. I get a lot accomplished on LTE zoom/FaceTime, banking, trading, texts with pics and vid’s works just fine.

You can switch to a myPlan and keep the $10 discount according to the email. We have a PlayMore plan and we would loose the free Hulu, Disney, ESPN if we switch to a myPlan though.
