I couldn't find a single hit for this oil here in the Euro oil forum so I thought I would ask if anyone uses this or if anyone here has knowledge on whether this would be a decent enough oil. Deutche Auto has it in their "Economy" oil change but it seems be similar to ratings of other oils that are considered "Premium" like Motul, and Castrol. I attached the product sheet below. It seems to be average for viscosity. I've seen viscosity (40c) for oil to be anywhere from 76 (Pennzoil Platinum euro) to 90 (Total Energy Quartz 9000)

In PDF description for their 5w50 it says.... "engine oil quality of Alpine RSL 5w50"...

So it could be that Mitan is filling oil for a Vaico...

"Recommendations" sounds like it lacks formal approvals. Also, with a pour point of -33, it doesn't point to having anything beyond Group III for base oils. I certainly wouldn't draw parallels between this product and those you mentioned.

You're right, I never noticed it saying just Recommendations. ECS tuning says it meets specifications and ShopDAP also has it shown as "Recommended". Hmmm I thought it was approved.

You're right about the pour point being a bit lower than the rest. Castrol 5w40 edge has it at -45 but I don't think that matters to those in warmer climates anyway. I'm currently using Valvoline MST 5w40 with a pour point of -39 for reference

Pour point isn't a valuable metric for performance, it can however give one an idea as to base oil selection, though what can be gleaned is only very basic.

Yes, another one of the many faceless oils with a bunch of "recommendations" instead of actual approvals. At least this one is a bit more clear but obviously not clear enough to not fool people.

Other then that I am ilustrating the same picture as you did...

Ahhh, OK. Yeah, I thought you were "making a funny" with your 105% remark, that's why I lol'd.

My last Europcar rental had a bottle of VAICO oil in the trunk. It's a brand sold in DIY home improvement stores and I also saw it on shelves at some gas stations. My rental was a Passat and I did not get to add any of this oil. So...

I forgot to mention VAICO sells all sorts of aftermarket parts and fluids. I don't know if they are actually a manufacturer, or if they are just a label. Looking at their extensive product catalog I suspect the latter.
