Depending on the application, wix makes protec and some of the microgard filters. Some are Purolator made.

They kill me with the marketing on oil filters. ALL filters can use synthetic or conventional or anything in between.. the only thing that matters are change intervals. If a filter is good for 3000 miles, it's good for 3000 miles. If a filter is good for 10k miles, it's good for 10k miles PERIOD. I get the concept of using a filter good for 3k miles with an oil that's going to last 7.5k miles may be illogical....for many....but there are still people who change full synthetic oil every 3k miles which is their prerogative. For that it's just as illogical to buy a 10k mile filter to use 3k miles because the 3k mile filter is marketed for "conventional only" oil.

Have you seen the movie Alien and what their acid blood does to metal? Well that's what synthetic oil will do to this filter.

To be fair, I think to cover their tails, they say no synthetic oil because it's correlated with extended intervals and that's not what their filter is intended for. Use whatever you want as long as it falls under factory intervals.

I have a bunch of Amsoil chrome HD filters in my garage. I found out they fit a JD mower just fine. I have a pretty, overpriced, overkill filter on my little tractor. As long as the threads and gasket are the same screw it on and forget it. That little Briggs and Stratton will not care one bit.
