This truck is driven 50% highway 50% city, light towing on the weekends. This is with a Puralator oil filter ,Puralator air filter, and magnetic drain plug. I also cleaned the throttle body, if that even matters.

Great results. Not sure how the magnetic drain plug effects things. Your driving conditions sound more like they are in the severe service category. You might want to try a less restrictive oil filter such as K&N. Nice report though.

Why less restrictuve? because of HD conditions?
I think with numbers like this he should just let sleeping dogs lie.
How much further are you going to push this oil next time> ???

The M1 10w30 thickened to 11 cSt huh? Is that good or bad?
Rick

EDIT: Almost forgot....nice report....I hope my Z's report looks as good as this

EDIT #2: One more thing....if you cleaned the TB on the vehicle with a TB sprayer, it may have raised you fuel content a bit....but at .5%, it's still good.

Typical Toyota UOA in a well maintained engine!

I would keep doing what you are doing. The 10W30 can be used year round and it appears to be doing a great job. I would stay with Mobil-1 as it is doing a fine job and is readily available. If this is you first UOA I would do one more before trying different weight oils or brands.

To date Redline oils have showed the best numbers on Toyotas but to be honest I do not think the difference is going to be significant with the numbers you already posted. Mobil-1 SS is really comeing on strong with new formulations all the time to improve the product!

This 4.7V8 is based on the Lexus V8 engine design. We have seen that the Lexus V8's engines do not car what you run in them. Their is one UOA with the Lexus 4.3V8 that has very low wear numbers with a weak dino 5W30 oil over a 3000 or 5000 mile OCI.

Your right, its really good enough. I've just been reading that Puralators don't allow as much flow compared to other oil filters but in this case it doesnt seem to matter so just keep doing what your doing.

Was he using the standard Purolator Premium Plus or the Purolator PureOne?

Thanks for the input!
The next UOA will be with the same oil and air filter, but Toyota oil filter. This was my first UOA so, I cut it a little short just to make sure there were not major problems. Blackstone recommends I go to 6,500. I will go at least that much on this run.

As far as the drain-plug, there was some buildup and some very small metal particles when I changed. I will probably do a run without it in the future.
I was using the standard Puralator oil filter. 4.6L with 6.5 quarts.

to all !

I have seen high mileage reports with this engine that beat up Amsoil 0w30. I would like to see an analysis which shows the condition of the oil a little better. Nitr and Oxy levels? TBN? This might explain the thickening.

Protection was good but for how much longer it's anybody's guess.

I've been wondering the same thing myself lately.

Perhaps someone who knows they have the latest batch of Mobil 1 should do a new VOA on it and see.

Well if it turns out that oxidation and nitration are problems their are cheap solutions. THe one that comes to mind is simply adding 1oz of lube control per quart plus 1 oz per 1000 miles. This would be cheaper then mail ordering Redline and would solve solvency, oxidation and nitration problems.

I have considered going this rout after my Redline trials are over. It is is just to hard to pass up the convince of cheap localy available synthetic. Lube Control is really affordable!

I would love to see how 4 quarts M1 15W50 mixed with 4-6oz.'s of LC would do in the spring or summer!!!

could you pros que me in on " what are good numbers in the oil testing game? In my limited time to review, it appears you want high calcium and zinc...it gets the praises, and watch out for silicon...dirt problem...what else can i glean from you pros...sure appreciate it..and thanks
