Toyota is doing fine

So, subtract the GST and you're looking at US$34,520 without even considering shipping. Would that fly in the US car market?

I have never seriously considered the purchase of a Toyota because of the distributor middleman, Gulf States Toyota. They do their best to tack on more stuff that I don't want. So, I don't consider Toyota.

I'm not worried about Toyota. I hope they make it out fine. Competition in the auto industry is a good thing, IMHO. In the end, it has helped us buy higher quality vehicles across the board

I heard that Ford is considering it. It will be however a de-tuned version of the European RS.(Why do the europeans always get the better, faster versions of cars than us in N.A)?

Because most Americans subscribe to the bigger is better theory. So the new Camaro, Mustang, or Challenger is more appealing than a Focus RS.

The Volt is just around the corner, and will put the Prius firmly in paper bag car of destruction territory. The Fusion is an incredible car, the new Taurus is unbelievable, Equinox, Edge, Corvette, Camaro, Challenger etc. will put Toyota to shame, and be able to stop fully when the brakes are depressed overhead power lines or not! 8.5 MILLION RECALLS! How many have been fixed? How many more crashes will be heard on the news? Doing fine? How about the resale values on the cars they had to give away in order to make any sales? That's going to hurt them. Major leasing companies are dropping Toyota because no one wants one as a rental! GM has this week, and Ford will show on Thursday some great sales numbers. Screw Toyota, they lied to us in order to save some money, and it's indisputable, their quality is not what it once was. A GM 43% rise in sales is a lot more cars sold than Toyota's 40% rise; the figures for the second half of the month will show a fade in the Toyota sales. GM's Buick alone is up an incredible 74+%! The shedding of Pontiac and Saturn and the closing of unneccessary dealerships is making GM leaner and much more competitive, and Ford was never doing too bad to begin with! BE AMERICAN-BUY AMERICAN!

Thanks for this wonderfully insightful post. I think I will go and buy a Toyota just because of this post..

Opposite day was last week~

Unlike most automakers, Toyota primarily reports its US sales in percentages adjusted for the number of selling days.

Toyota's unadjusted sales grew 40.7 percent in March to 186,863. Its sales for the year-to-date were up an adjusted 8.7 percent at 385,686.

Toyota is a flop in Europe:

The RAV4 was the only hot seller for Toyota with a 42.9% change. Was the RAV4 all that Toyota was able to sell to get their increase? The Chevrolet Equinox 129.7% increase! Fusion up 80.5%!
F-seies up 26.3%! Check out the excellent data reporting:

Uh.... USA1, please stop. I'm not defending toyota, but it is VERY clear that he did that on purpose, and was not a problem with the car. He clearly put it in reverse and there was a moment before it started moving.

Yes I agree. This domestic vs import thing has got to stop. People are free to drive what they like. Mr. USA1, your import bashing and buy domestic(rahra) is getting rather old, and this is coming from a guy who is going to buy a new mustang as my next car.. Toyota employs thousands of people in N.A. Running them down all the time and trying to drive them out of the market is economic suicide.

I'll stop as soon as the GM, Ford and Chrysler bashing stops, which to ME has become rather old. GM, Ford and Chrysler USED to employ the entire Midwest once, tens of thousands of people. Detroit is nearly a ghost town. Next the UAW assemblers are being called inept and overpaid, and to solve that problem, Mexico and Canada employees build the new Domestics. I guess that is a problem too and we all know how that discussion goes: US cars are less American than Toyotas.... The Toyota driver did that on purpose? Is that why the engine was bouncing off the rev limiter for a GOOD LONG TIME? Wake up America, you're lunch is being eaten.

Well, I am a "buy domestic" guy but after a few test drives I am not as uh, indignant about it. I will still buy a domestic car before I buy a "Foreign" care, just the way I'm wired.

He put it in neutral and kept his foot on the floor, obviously. Two things. He put it in reverse. Strike 1. And then he would have had to floor it to get it stuck, which he wouldn't have done with a cop there. And strike 3, it wouldn't bounce off the rev limiter in drive/reverse

Pinellas county Toyota dealers have been absolutely terrible.

I still remember the arguing I made when getting some warranty work done to my mom's Solara.

I bought a Saturn because I wanted to avoid that.

Mom's Toyota, however, treated her much better than my Saturn treated me.

Not a day goes by without me thinking about how much better off I would have been if I bought a Toyota Corolla.
