To change or not to change?

Stick with the Amsoil, it's arguably one the best PCMO 's available anywhere. If there's no PAO in it then I'll eat my hat. You could go 15k with the SS and change filter at 7.5k and just top up with whatever the filter takes.

Totally agree. I just ran a Wix for 7000 miles, it looked new except for the oil in it. I'll be taking the next one to 10k.

(Linctex)The waste of money I refer to is buying a EAO filter that can go 25000 but change it at 2500. I can get a good $5-7 dollar filter that would for sure last me 5000m and save $$$ by not using a EAO filter. I might have fell of the turnip truck at night but not last night. But thats an excellent way to take out of context what I said...... I can't help what "leaks out" when I'm changing my oil filter. Can you? Do you catch every drop of oil when you spin your filter off? If so you should do my oil changes from now on. Those are my words too, feel free to quote me again. If your only here to aggravate me go find someone else's thread to troll.

Isn't there a guy here who doesn't change his oil? "ihatetochangeoil" or something? I don't even think he changes the filter, just tops up what it uses and it hasn't blown up yet IIRC.

OP what you are talking about sounds similar to the microgreen scheme. They want you to use their filter for 10,000 miles and change oil every third filter change.

FWIW i think 2500 miles is too often for the filter change, but what you propose isn't out of the realm of possibility.

I am trying to understand your thought process but I can't. I'm sorry. Changing my filters are by far the hardest part of my oil change process. If I changed only my filters, I'm guessing I'd only lose a cup or pint of oil at the most.

But to answer your question, I'd stay with your current procedure of 10k oci with all Amsoil. (That's what I'm doing so it has to be the only correct way, obviously with 100% certainty)

I guess I'm not understanding. Why propose all this nonsense to "avoid doing oil changes" just to turn around and literally perform the same exact task MORE frequently (you're still changing a filter and adding oil, it's literally the same amount of effort)

. Changing the filter is probably the hardest part.

It has to be about cost, nothing else makes sense. But if it's about cost, instead of running Amsoil why not just run whatever cheap oil (most are
Not trying to be a jackhole (although I probably sound like it), but I truly can't make sense of this, and feel like it's just

I feel the same way here. If the actual reasoning here is to avoid changing the oil, just put on a bypass system and go that route. But if the reasoning is cost, then use a cheaper oil/filter combo and do the same 10k runs. If the reasoning is to fish here, I'm a little confused. The OP joined this forum 7 years ago and is only now starting to post, but lays down this thread that is sure to stir up trouble??

(PATMAN) NOT TRYING TO STIR UP ANY TROUBLE!!!!! Oh my God, it was a simple da_n question. To keep doing what I'm doing or just change the filter at a certain mileage. And its responses like this are why I haven't posted anything for 7 years. Everyone wants to fight and butt heads over nothing or ASSume ''he's trying to start trouble". Holy crap folks take the question for what it is. If you don't like the question move on. If you have a 'worth while opinion' let me know. Don't read more into it than there is. And what could I possibly be fishing for??? It's not a conspiracy.

(DuckRyder) Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! for posting that thread!!!!! That thread had the answers I was looking for. (Gebo) & (Tony1679) "I guess I'm not understanding. NO, on a 2003 Chevy blazer the easiest part is the filter change, the filter is right up front behind a panel easy in easy out. The harder part is crawling further under it to drain all the oil while laying on the concrete. It's hard for my fat [censored] to do that. Don't say it, I know I need to lose weight.

It isn't my fault you weren't specific.

I'm not the only one having difficulty understanding what you are trying to say.

(Linctex) To put it like one of the other responses I've gotten "It's not eye surgery". If you had read the first page to 10th response from AZjeff, "OP never wants to do a complete OC again, just change the filter and top off with Amsoil in case some didn't get it...." in a nutshell that's about as complicated as it gets. I wanted reasons not to do it or yeah you can do that and be alright. That's it. No brain bender here.

That's because men like to analyse and solve problems and not listen

My wife reminds of that often

there are books about this subject.
you are on a site with mostly male (assumption on my part) members ...

Based on the above, I wouldn't worry too much about it
