Any suggestions for repairng a tie rod boot on front wheel (rear wheel drive) that has cracked at the seam but otherwise in good condition.
Don't wish to remove tie rod and most garages have informed me to let it go until the rod goes bad and replace with one that has a fitting and new boot. Any innovative wasy to keep the dirt out for a while?

I bought some polyurethane replacements for my car, you remove the old one and these slip over the balljoint, held in place just by pressure when you put it back together. Seems to be working. Some grease has come out, but I really loaded it up to be safe.

Spector, boots are a 5 minute job with the right tools.

If you have an AutoZone nearby, go borrow one of their rod-end/ball-joint presses. Looks like:

They should have boots, too. Total cost
