Really, has anyone use this product "The Right Stuff" and what were the instructions and how did you like the product?

I am tired of my ATF pan gasket leaking so I thought I would try this product without a gasket.

If you constantly have ATF pan gasket leaking, you may have issues with oil pan mating surface irregularities (non-uniform, not flush, nicks, etc.) or you have excessive pressure buildup and your vent hole is plugged.

I would strongly recommend you to look into that before you begin wasting your time on various different RTV sealants and stuff. Afterall: if RTV sealants can be used successfully on so many different products w/o any incidents, wouldn't it make sense to you that something isn't right?

Oh and BTW: all RTV sealant comes with a curing time. Did you follow your RTV sealant's curing time requirements?

Q.

have used right stuff on rear diff. covers it is a awesome product... will use any time for a form gasket. the best thing is the back to service time is right away.

It works like a whip cream can only it comes out slow; letting you put down a nice uniform bead width. The size bead width that you put on your tooth brush is about right.

It's rather expensive, but works VERY well. It is always best to have really clean surfaces, but 'Right Stuff' will work well with an oily surface - it is designed to. It will make getting the pan off harder next time, but it won't leak if you give it half a chance.

Rightstuff is awesome, but just one of several great RTVs out there. But, I don't like using RTV as a bandaid for other issues.

What year make model engine/trans is leaking? What brand gasket are you using? what torque wrench are you using?

Literally millions of trans pans are leak free with plain old gaskets installed with no adhesives( as they come from factory). You have a problem. Find and fix, then special goo won't be necessary. As a regular user of silicon sealants, I have no problem with their use, but they aren't a "fix all".

I've used the goop, and it works exceptionally well.

Unfortunately, the "unused portion" sets as well in the can as the small amount that you used on the vehicle...not the whole can, but in the area that it needs to escape through to get out of the can.

The pans are usually designed differently if the car came from the factory w/RTV. Basically, if it came from the factory with RTV, then reinstall pan w/RTV. That being said, I replaced the pan on wife's Durango w/rubber gasket (came from Chrysler w/RTV), and no leaks after 15k miles.

I sealed the pan today with the "Right Stuff" really worked well and put it right back in service. Not a drop leaking. I am very impressed so far.....it's rather expensive stuff, but worth it at this point.

I spoke with a Permatex tech rep about this product. I is their top of the line. Also, they claim that you can operate vehicle in 20 minutes, not 24 hours like their other products. I just tried it a few weeks ago on an edelbrock aluminum head/manifold combo (end seals and around water ports). All is good so far.
